Where Is It From? Eckermannite Meaning

The meaning of the name Eckermannite relates to it being named after a Swedish mineralogist named Harry von Eckermann.

These stones are fairly uncommon but are known to be found in Sweden, Myanmar, Australia, New Mexico and South Africa, where it occurs in combination with Sugilite. 

It is an amphibole mineral, and while the stone is commonly dark blue, blue-green or black it may also deeper blue when it is in combination with Sugilite.

While it has been known to be found as prismatic crystals it is more commonly found in the form of aggregates.
