Where Is It From? Gibbsite Meaning

This is a fairly uncommon stone that may be white, pale blue or grey, although the blue stone is the easiest to obtain at most good crystal stores.

While it may sometimes be reddish white and greenish white, these colors are not common as this is caused by the presence of impurities in the mineral.

The name of this stone relates to it being named in honor of Colonel George Gibbs. Gibbs was a mineralogist and geologist who wrote scientific articles about geology and mineralogy.

Also called Hydrargillite, many of these crystals are quite dull and microscopic in size. They commonly occur as botryoidal stones, which are tiny spheres like tiny grapes naturally bonded together.

They may also occur as a druzy or as grape-like coating on a matrix stone which are shown in some of the images here.

They are found in Greece, Norway, Guyana, West Africa, Jamaica, India, China, Brazil and the United States.

Gibbsite is an aluminum hydroxide mineral that is one of the three minerals that make up the rock bauxite which is processed to make aluminum.

Best Crystals To Use With Gibbsite

What are the best crystals to combine with Gibbsite? These stones have a good energy to stimulate the throat chakra where they act to assist communication.
